Optimization of Small Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines Based on Aerodynamic, Steady-State, and Dynamic Analyses

In this article, the model of a 5 kW small wind turbine blade is developed and improved. Emphasis has been placed on improving blade’s efficiency aerodynamics selecting most optimal material for blade. The QBlade software was used to enhance chord twist. Also, new finite element using ANSYS analyze structure modal problems results presented von Mises stresses deformations three different materials (Carbon/epoxy, E-Glass/epoxy, braided composite). analysis natural frequencies mode shapes each material. It found, based results, that maximum deflections E-glass, composite carbon fiber were 46.46 mm, 33.54 18.29 respectively.
